Another DAY OF DECISION is coming

UPDATE! Judge Walker will rule on Wednesday, August 4! Please invite all your friends to the rally at Daley Plaza, Wednesday, August 4 at 6 PM! Here is the Facebook event.

--------

The closing arguments for the Prop 8 federal trial took only a day. No one seems to know when Judge Walker will rule. It's possible he wrote the majority of his opinion during the recess, with just a few blanks left to be filled in after closing arguments, and he is ready to issue that tomorrow. It's also possible he's going to mull it over for weeks.

Given the ridiculous lack of evidence on the pro-prop-8 side, and the incredibly moving testimony and brilliant experts on our side, it's entirely likely that this will be a celebration. However, given the weird messed up scrutiny level thing, they could decide that the voters knew what they were doing and that LGBTQ people are not a class that requires strict scrutiny.

But either way it goes, the ruling will be appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and then on to the Supreme Court!

And either way it goes, we will RALLY in Chicago when Judge Walker makes his decision, in celebration or protest. This trial has been monumental and people need to know about it!

You can sign up for text message alerts from AFER (text EQUAL to 69866), which is the group behind our side of the trial, to find out when something happens in the case, though Facebook and Twitter will also probably let you know as soon as anyone in the world knows.

AFER's website is http://www.equalrightsfoundation.org/ and you can get the closing argument trial transcript from there, too.
